A Day in the Life of a Marketing Representative
8:00 AM – 9:00 AM
I’m so happy I decided to live on-site and save myself time, gas, and money with the employee
rent discount. No rush hour traffic to get me down. Living and working at the same
place has so many wonderful conveniences!
9:00 AM – 10:00 AM
First things first, I always have to greet the maintenance team, who are in the
shop getting prepared for their day. I saw them earlier picking up the grounds and
washing the golf carts. I guess they’re off to turn apartments and get some service
requests done. They do such a great job; they really help make leasing beautiful
apartments a breeze. Some of the team is already inside opening up our office and
clubhouse. I jump right in and start to put out refreshments for prospective residents.
With the cookies and juice done, I make a quick cup of coffee and take a seat at
We’re all filling each other in on yesterday’s events while we log on and check
any messages from our residents. Since I’m on the intranet, I’ll go ahead and update
our website information for the day.
10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
I hear the door chime and grab a guest card to go greet my guest who’s just walked
in. Alright, a new prospect looking for a new home. I’m happy to get her information
and show her our wonderful community. She loves the 24-hour fitness and business
center and is very impressed with our beautiful landscaping. I tell her about our
amazing maintenance team and of some of the company awards they’ve won, and she’s
excited already. We get to the model apartment and she’s blown away by the spacious
floor plan. Back to the golf cart, and we return to the office. I ask her to complete
her application as soon as possible as we have limited availability and she has
specific preferences for her new home. My first lease of the day! It’s a good start
for the office, and everybody’s happy.
11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Residents are streaming in and out at a steady pace as they drop off their rent
payments. I've set up two appointments via the phone so far to give a community
tour to prospective residents. Several residents have remarked that they love the
changes we've made to the landscaping. I will pass the compliments on to our service
team when I meet with them later today. I also need to give them some new maintenance
requests submitted by our residents.
Everyone's been racing around today…getting keys for vendors to clean carpets, signing
for residents' overnight package deliveries, grabbing more rent checks, and answering
the phones. I pulled my co-worker aside to switch lunch schedules with her since
I'm helping a resident right now, and if one of us doesn't take lunch soon, we won't
eat. She’s back now and it's my turn…thank goodness!
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
Ah, feeling refreshed. Ready to tackle the rest of the day...
2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Now it is time to start planning our resident appreciation party. It is always nice
to thank our residents for choosing to live here by hosting a resident party (this
is my personal favorite thing to do). Today I will print the invitations, shop for
party decorations and choose the menu. So much to do to get ready for our event!
I also get a chance to market to area businesses by making gifts and goody baskets
with information about our community.
It's calmed down a little, so I spend some time writing thank you notes and making
phone calls to the visitors I took on tour yesterday. Ms. Kelly said she'd take
that one bedroom apartment we have available on the 15th and will overnight her
application and deposit. Yeah, that's two new leases for the day!
4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
The pace is starting to pick up again. Mr. Smith called and asked if I'd go and
shut his garage door, which he forgot to do this morning on his way out. I give
two more community tours. One guest is coming back tomorrow to show the community
to her roommate, while the second is just getting a preliminary look around and
will let us know his plans once his house sells. The Johnson family comes in to
return their keys and gives the staff a tearful farewell. They've been transferred
out-of-state. While we're sad to see them go, we've been able to help them find
a new home at another Windsor community.
I really enjoy the camaraderie that I have developed with my coworkers. It is such
a great team environment as we all work together to achieve the same goals. We all
have strengths that help us settle into who does what best, and it keeps a great
flow and work environment. Some days I don’t even feel like it's “work”! On most
days the time just flies by.
Well, another lovely day at Windsor is complete. I’ve just celebrated my two year
anniversary with the company and have enrolled in the Manager-In-Training program
offered by Windsor Academy. I’m preparing myself for great things and can thank
my company for providing me with the tools necessary to succeed. I can truly say
each morning, “I love my job with Windsor!”
