If you’ve been apartment hunting, you have no doubt heard the term “luxury apartment” and wondered “What do luxury apartments have that others don’t?” The truth is that the answer can vary by community and geographic location. That’s why it’s important to understand what a luxury community should be.
What is a luxury apartment?
Nobody wants to live in an apartment that looks like the set of a 1980s sitcom. In a luxury apartment home, you’ll get a contemporary floor plan and high-end finishes. You can expect to see 9-foot ceilings and large windows, granite or quartz countertops and custom tile backsplashes, built-in shelving and desk nooks, as well as ample closets with built-in organizers.
From flooring and lighting fixtures to appliances and bathroom fixtures, these apartments have upgraded everything. If there’s a reason you can’t tour the exact home you’re considering renting, ask to see one with the exact layout and finishes that your apartment has.
A luxury apartment community should offer loads of extras throughout, like:
- Stainless steel appliances
- Granite or quartz countertops
- More than enough square footage
- Walk-in closets
- Plenty of windows – large ones
- A spacious balcony or patio
- Necessary wiring for high-speed cable and internet access
- In-home laundry
- Hardwood floors
- Spa Inspired Bathrooms
- Smart technology
With the modern design, comes top-of-the-line energy-efficient lighting and appliances – like Energy-Star Certified refrigerators, microwaves, dishwashers, and ovens. Not only do they use far less electricity so your monthly utility bills will be lower, but these newer appliances look better than their older predecessors.
Amenities, amenities, amenities
Luxury apartment buildings are filled with a myriad of amenities. In addition to high-end everything inside your apartment, there are usually gathering spaces for residents designed into the community. Some of the communal spaces, that are really an extension of your apartment, might include:
- Coworking space
- Large pool
- Fitness center
- Coffee bar/cafe
- Multi-media room
- Snack bar
- Game room
- Pet Park and washing station
We all want to live in the nicest areas and close to all the best things your area has to offer. Luxury apartment communities are usually nestled right in that sweet spot, with easy access to transportation, shopping, dining, and entertainment. Being able to step out of your front door and be near your most frequented destinations, is the kind of luxury you can really appreciate.
Especially in a city, space is luxury. That’s why luxury apartments are designed with larger floor plans, more open space, and usually larger windows and higher ceilings.
You can love your neighbor and still enjoy a little bit of breathing room. That’s why, along with the spacious floor plan, comes more space between homes.
Especially in a city, on-site parking is a luxury! If you’ve ever had to circle the block numerous times to find a parking spot or lugged groceries in the rain long distances, you know exactly how important on-site parking really is. It’s also nice to have room for friends and family to park when they visit.
This may sound like a small detail, but being surrounded by beauty is a good thing. Luxury apartment communities usually have well landscaped common outdoor areas for your enjoyment. There may be gardens, walking trails, playgrounds, parks, dog parks, benches, and other features. When you visit to tour an apartment, also look for features like bike storage areas and charging stations for electric cars.
If you have a pet, you want them to feel just as at home as you will. Many luxury apartment communities have dog parks and even dog washing stations. Being able to go outside to a secure area with your furry friend, any time of the day or night is a true luxury for you and for them.
Why choose a luxury apartment?
Today, more and more of us are realizing the benefit of renting as opposed to buying. And for renters, there are many really good reasons to choose to live in a luxury apartment. It offers a community ideal for residents who enjoy the finer things, spending time out of their apartment and in a community, and want the security if offered. If price is an issue, you may want to consider a studio apartment – even a small apartment will feel spacious when there is so much common space, and so many amenities to enjoy outside of it. For that matter, have your friends over to spend time at the pool, multi-media room, or any of the common areas. They are an extension of your apartment.
Compared to regular apartments, luxury apartments simply offer more. They offer so many things that others don’t. However, be sure to do some comparison shopping. It’s the best way to find out what a luxury apartment can offer you.
