Living in Pasadena, CA

Conveniently located just 10 miles from Los Angeles, Pasadena is a walkable city known for its dining, shopping, and entertainment. Each district in Pasadena has its own unique personality, giving you seemingly endless options for a day (or night) on the town.

In the Civic Center District, for example, you’ll find beautiful architecture, an eclectic mix of restaurants — including multiple steakhouses — and the Pasadena Ice Skating Center. One of the areas biggest draws is The Paseo, an open-air shopping center with over 60 stores, and the popular Pasadena Antique Mall.

Shopping and Entertainment

Shopping options are also plentiful in Old Pasadena, which contains “an eclectic mix of more than 200 unique boutiques and exclusive national retailers.” In addition to its retail offerings, this 22-block district is also known for its wide variety of ethnic cuisine and a number of nightlife hotspots, including a password-protected 1920s bar, the city’s largest nightclub, and multiple wine bars.

This blend of historic charm and current attractions carries over into the Playhouse Village, an arts district brimming with public art, museums, and independent shops. You can grab a bite to eat and spend your day browsing bookstores and record shops, or visit the area’s unique attractions. Playhouse Village is home to the USC Pacific Asia Museum, which has “more than 15,000 items from across Asia and the Pacific Islands,” as well as the Pasadena Playhouse, the Official State Theatre of California.
Dining Options

Scattered throughout these and other districts you’ll find more than 600 restaurants in Pasadena, which has more restaurants per capita than New York State. No matter where you go in the city, you can expect food for every palate and budget — the city is truly a foodie’s paradise.

Outdoor Activities

Of course, you can’t forget Pasadena’s natural attractions. With over 300 days of sun a year and proximity to the San Gabriel Mountains, there are plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation. Relax in beautiful gardens or enjoy a scenic walk in one of the city’s 24+ parks, or head to Angeles National Forest for camping, skiing, or hiking.

No matter your lifestyle, you’ll find plenty to do when you live in Pasadena.
